Jan Svankmajer’s is a rendering of the infamous Dr. Faustus fable of temptation and dam-nation.
Borrowing freely from both Marlowe and Goethe and ancient folktales and timeless myths, the story follows a lonely Czech businessman who sells his soul to the devil in return for 24 years of self-indulgence.
A visually fantastic combination of live-action, claymation, puppet theatre, stop-motion animation, and other special effects, Jan Svankmajer creates an unsettling universe presided over by diabolic life-size marionettes and haunted by sinister human messengers from hell.

Paid on-street parking can be found on the surrounding streets.
In Portland, vehicles displaying a valid disability plate or placard are exempt from meter fees and may park up to double the posted time limit at meters and in time-restricted zones.

SEATING POLICY
We will save your reserved seat until showtime, at which point any unclaimed seats may be offered to other people. Please call Mayo Street Arts at 207-879-4629 if you are running late.

CANCELATION POLICY
PiP has a no refund policy for all reservations. In the event that PiP is forced to cancel an event due to weather, illness, etc., refunds will be offered via PortTIX.
